On October 1st, 2013 the Division of Nephrology announced that Dr. Herbert Y. Lin will assume the position of Director of Translational Research. Dr. Lin leads a highly productive laboratory within the Division of Nephrology and Center for Systems Biology focusing on TGF-β/BMP signaling pathways and is widely recognized for his mentorship of junior investigators.

Harsh Patel (from Higgins Lab) presented an abstract at the Annual Meeting of the American Association of Clinical Chemistry, and the abstract was selected as an “NACB Distinguished Abstract.” Only 38 out of 903 abstracts received that award.


Congratulations to Dennis Brown, PhD, who was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Science by his alma mater, the University of East Anglia, Norwich, UK at a congregation held on Thursday July 18th, 2013. The honor was bestowed in recognition of his contributions to cell biology and physiology. The following week on July 25th, he gave the prestigious Robert Pitts Lecture in Renal Physiology at the International Union of Physiological Sciences meeting in Birmingham, UK
